Annual Design

Our Secondary 3 and 5 students in the STEAM profile had the opportunity to visit the 10th edition of UQAM's Annual Design.

This enriching and fascinating visit allowed our students to discover the scope and importance of design in our daily lives. Faced with a multitude of innovative projects, they were deeply inspired by the creative and technological advances presented. An unforgettable experience that fuels the curiosity and ambition of our future designers!

Défi Génie Inventif

On April 6, our brilliant students excelled at the regional finals of the prestigious Défi Génie Inventif ÉTS 2024, an exciting science competition orchestrated by Réseau Technoscience in partnership with the Villa Maria Science Department.

During this thrilling day of engineering and creativity that took place right in our school, our teams competed with their ingenuity in four tight rounds of the “Curb Your Ardors!” competition. Imagine designing and testing prototype vehicles made entirely from recycled materials and equipped with sophisticated braking systems. At the same time, our students had the opportunity to participate in exciting workshops hosted by Bombardier, as well as drone piloting activities.

Opéra de Montréal

On May 5th, 2022, students of the music option had the chance to attend the general performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute presented by the Opéra de Montréal at Salle Wilfrid Pelletier at Place-des-Arts.

The musicians from Villa Maria were impressed by the high register of the coloratura soprano who represented the Queen of the Night. The silent film theme added a psychedelic and humorous touch to this famous opera from the classical era.

Montréal Planetarium

On April 21, 2022, Secondary 5 students in the English sector Sciences profile took part in a field trip to the Montréal Planetarium.

Students watched two shows in the amazing 360° theatre: Celestial Chronicles and Space Explorers. Afterwards, they had time to explore the exhibits related to space and astronomy, including the Planetarium’s fantastic collection of meteorites from around the world. French sector students visited the Planetarium on May 20th.

Encore plus Génial!

On February 21, 2022, seven students from Secondary 4 had the privilege of participating in the recording of two episodes of the popular Télé-Québec series "Encore plus Génial!”.

This show, hosted by Stéphane Bellavance, tests the scientific knowledge of the students as well as their ability to popularize certain concepts. Congratulations to our students who gave an extraordinary performance! Stay tuned, the episodes will air next season in fall 2022.
