Sports

Participation, teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized in Villa Maria’s various sports programs.

Villa Maria has an outstanding athletic tradition. Our teachers and coaches strive to provide students with ample opportunities to integrate physical activity into their daily lives and to develop good habits and tools for managing their health and well-being.

Villa Maria’s Elite teams have won a number of medals as well as several local, regional and provincial championships. We are members of several sports associations, including the GMAA (Greater Montreal Athletic Association) and the RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec).

Among them, Amanda Lin and Maxim Bombardier took 1st place in Bantam Girls and Boys respectively, with teammates securing notable positions. Noteworthy performances continued across categories, with Nicole Zhang leading Cadet Girls, and Tommy Le topping Cadet Boys. The Juvie category saw Kevin Zhang emerge victorious for the boys, while doubles teams showcased impressive teamwork!

Futsal Midget Girls: Silver Medal

In March, the Cadet Girls Futsal team faced off against Lester B. Pearson High School in a thrilling semi-final match.

With seconds remaining in regular time, they netted a crucial goal, forcing overtime. Clinching victory with 18 seconds left in the first period of overtime, they showcased their defensive prowess, securing a spot in the final.

Teachers VS Students

A group of Secondary 5 students from the French and English sectors joined forces to compete against a group of teachers in three sports: volleyball, basketball and futsal.

The competition was fierce! The students came out on top in volleyball, but ultimately the teachers proved too strong by winning the basketball and futsal competitions. Congratulations to the teachers and the students who proved to be fearsome opponents!
