Sports

Participation, teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized in Villa Maria’s various sports programs.

Villa Maria has an outstanding athletic tradition. Our teachers and coaches strive to provide students with ample opportunities to integrate physical activity into their daily lives and to develop good habits and tools for managing their health and well-being.

Villa Maria’s Elite teams have won a number of medals as well as several local, regional and provincial championships. We are members of several sports associations, including the GMAA (Greater Montreal Athletic Association) and the RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec).

GMAA Badminton Team Championships

On May 2nd, 2022, two of Villa’s badminton teams made it to playoffs at the GMAA Badminton Team Championships: the Juvenile Girls team and the Bantam Boys team.

The Juvenile Girls team played hard all season to earn their spot at the playoff tournament, made a good showing, but were ultimately unsuccessful in their medal pursuit. The Bantam Boys won all but one match all season long and went undefeated at the playoff tournament to bring home the gold medal and banner for the school!

Futsal Midget Boys: Silver Medal

The Villa Maria Futsal Midget Boys Team played in the division championship on April 7, 2022.

The boys played against Lester B. Pearson High School and, despite a well fought battle, took home the division silver medal. Congratulations!

Teachers VS Students

A group of Secondary 5 students from the French and English sectors joined forces to compete against a group of teachers in three sports: volleyball, basketball and futsal.

The competition was fierce! The students came out on top in volleyball, but ultimately the teachers proved too strong by winning the basketball and futsal competitions. Congratulations to the teachers and the students who proved to be fearsome opponents!
