At Villa Maria, as of Secondary 3, students can choose motivating academic profiles designed in response to the interests of all types of students.
Each of these courses seek to develop skills and competencies helpful in their personal and academic growth as well as better prepare them for higher education and the labour market.
For the 2025-2026 school year, Villa Maria offers in the English sector the following profiles in each grade level:
Secondary 3: Sciences, Entrepreneurship & Leadership
Secondary 4: Sciences, Entrepreneurship & Leadership
Secondary 5: Sciences, Entrepreneurship & Leadership
For the 2026-2027 school year, Extra-Credit courses for cycle 2 students are replaced by Experience Periods. Experience Periods represent a central pillar of Villa Maria’s renewed academic program. Fully integrated into the school schedule (four 60-minute periods per 18-day cycle), they provide students with structured opportunities to engage in authentic, project-based learning experiences. These experiences are designed to encourage the development of essential 21st-century competencies, including collaboration, creativity, communication, critical thinking, autonomy, and a strong sense of responsibility. Through these Experience Periods, students are invited to explore a variety of fields of interest including engineering, music event management, communications (student newspaper), mathematics enrichment, and many other engaging projects, within a project-based learning framework that promotes accountability and active engagement.
