Bilingual environment
At Villa Maria, our French and English sectors offer students a unique opportunity to benefit from a bilingual learning environment.
Language teaching is one of our school’s special strengths. Our students come from a wide range of cultural environments and we celebrate the richness of this diversity.
In compliance with language laws, our students pursue their studies in their respective language sector. However, everything that takes place outside the classroom, including daily activities, extracurricular and sports activities, unfolds collectively in both English and French. As a result, our students are immersed in Montréal’s bilingual experience.
Bilingualism offers a number of advantages:
- Greater development of cognitive skills and increased mental flexibility. Allowing students to more easily solve problems and integrate complex concepts, it also fosters creativity.
- It facilitates communication when travelling as well as communication with others and the acceptance of differences.
- It is an asset in the workplace. This is a skill that makes it possible to land coveted positions in different fields.
- It also makes it possible to learn new languages.
Bilingualism is an essential skill in present-day society.
Reflecting the daily life of our students, it sets them up for success. In fact, bilingualism is worth its weight in gold to employers.
By exposing our students to the use of French and English on a daily basis, we help lay the groundwork for their future professional life and better integration in today’s interconnected world.
